The Paul Robeson House & Museum is participating in Scribe Video Center’s “2018 Precious Places Community History Project.” Working with the Scribe project will give us the opportunity to produce a video to tell the story of Paul Robeson, the founding of the West Philadelphia Cultural Alliance and its purchase and renovation of the Robeson House, along with activities associated with the house.
Each year, Scribe invites neighborhood groups to document their history with the help of a filmmaker and research scholar. Projects include the oral history of buildings, public places, parks and other sites important to a community. You can view some projects from 2011. The free program is open to organizations in Philadelphia, Camden and adjoining counties.
The Robeson group is meeting twice a month to learn the necessary skills to create the video. We are looking for others who would like to participate. You need no video experience, just a strong desire and commitment to help the Robeson House succeed in its mission. But if you have video, editing, writing, research, interviewing or other skills, we encourage you to volunteer.
