Everyone likes a good mystery, and we have three we’re trying to solve at the Paul Robeson House and Museum.

We could use your help.

Mystery of the stained-glass window

There is a stained-glass window at the house with a picture of Robeson in the center. Who made it and when?

Mystery of the piano inscription

An inscription is recessed into a brass plaque on the piano, which is a Betsy Ross Spinet made by the Lester Piano Company in Philadelphia. This was one of the company’s most popular models.

“To Berynce
May 7, 1953”

Who was Bernyce and what is the story behind this gift?

Mystery of the missing bust

This bust of Paul Robeson was once in the house but no more. This photo was taken in 2010. Where is it?

If you have concrete information about either of these, please notify us in the form below or call 215-747-4675.
